Peer Mentoring

PEER MENTORING

PURPOSE

This program is designed to provide student assistance to students who are having a difficult time acclimating to college life, encountering problems in work completion, or lacking skills to meet satisfactory progress.

MENTEES

Students will be assigned a volunteer student mentor when he/she is frequently absent from class, having difficulty in completing assignments, or need help with certain skills.

Students who are having difficulty will be asked to accept a mentor as a means of promoting success and retention.  Failure to accept a mentor may be grounds to deny appeal in cases involving financial aid.

MENTORS

Student mentors will be asked to volunteer and accept training to be involved in this program.  To become a mentor, students must meet certain academic requirements.
