HBC considers student life a vital part of the educational process and seeks to provide opportunities for students to apply Christian principles and democratic ideals learned in the classroom to life situations. Students are encouraged to form organizations that support Christian lifestyle, social development, career objectives, and educational opportunities with the approval of the faculty, the Chief Student Personnel Officer, and the Academic Dean.
The Student Government Association is a student organization run by students according to the constitution and bylaws approved by the student body. The Association is governed by an elected executive committee composed of a president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, and two members-at-large. It functions to sponsor student activities, generate school spirit, and present student views on school matters to the faculty and administration.

PURPOSE
This program is designed to provide student assistance to students who are having a difficult time acclimating to college life, encountering problems in work completion, or lacking skills to meet satisfactory progress.
MENTEES
Students will be assigned a volunteer student mentor when he/she is frequently absent from class, having difficulty in completing assignments, or need help with certain skills.
Students who are having difficulty will be asked to accept a mentor as a means of promoting success and retention. Failure to accept a mentor may be grounds to deny appeal in cases involving financial aid.
MENTORS
Student mentors will be asked to volunteer and accept training to be involved in this program. To become a mentor, students must meet certain academic requirements.
